Management Accountant

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies.

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team at our site in Crewkerne, Somerset. This role reports directly to the Financial Controller and plays a key role in delivering timely and accurate financial information for the business, and in particular, managing the valuation of stocks, work in progress and cost of goods sold.

The role

To provide analysis of profit and loss management accounts to budget and periodic forecasts. Preparation of monthly management accounts pack profit and loss and costs analysis. Support the Financial Controller in the management of financial processes for Tods Aerospace and Tods Defence in compliance with statutory requirements.

 - Manage the valuation of stocks, work in progress and cost of goods sold.

 - Assist in the production of the monthly management accounts within Group timescales

 - Support the collation and production of reporting to the US parent Group.

 - Identify business requirements and generate KPI’s to report performance, feeding back with financial analysis and making recommendations for improvements.

 - Support the Financial Controller with forecasting and budgeting.

 - Support the business with accurate costings for NPI, to ensure margins are in line with expectations.

 - Support purchase ledger and credit control activities as needed.

 - Support the production of the monthly payroll data and assist with any payroll queries as needed.

 - Carry out analysis to understand daily, weekly and monthly movements against the plan and communicate in terminology appropriate for non-finance colleagues.

The person

 - Full or part-qualified accountant, with a recognised qualification such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA.

 - Conversant with data manipulation to ensure meaningful reporting of events; high level of IT competence.

 - Good knowledge of accounting systems controls.

 - Strong organisational and prioritising skills.

 - Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

 - Highly pragmatic with strong problem-solving ability.

 - Able to work as either part of the team or autonomously as required.

 - Be capable of looking for continuous improvement of reporting and controls.

 - Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.

 - A flexible and conscientious ‘can do’ approach to workload.

 - Resilient, tenacious, and responds positively under pressure.

 - Previous experience in a manufacturing SME environment would be beneficial, as would experience of financial reporting to a parent Group.
