Acorn Growth Companies Announces Seeds of Greatness Award Recipients.

The Seeds of Greatness Award, which Acorn introduced in 2007, recognizes Oklahoma aerospace and defense companies, government agencies, teams, or individuals that have created cost savings or revenue enhancements through innovation from both the public and private sectors.

“This year’s public sector award goes to Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission’s Center for Aerospace Supplier Quality. The Center for Aerospace Supplier Quality is an innovative program created to assist Oklahoma companies in capturing more business from the Department of Defense,” stated Acorn Partner Jeff Davis. “Since its inception, CASQ has assisted 27 companies in receiving over 300 awards totaling $33 million.”

“For the private sector, this year we have selected The Greenwood Group,” stated Rick Nagel, a Partner at Acorn. “This Ponca City-based company continues to be an Oklahoma leader in innovation focusing on three primary business units: aviation, government programs and sensor testing. The company is nationally recognized, including being nominated National Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year by the United States Forest Service in 2009.”

Presenting this year’s awards were Acorn Partners Jeff Davis and Rick Nagel. Accepting the award on behalf of their companies were Chuck Greenwood, CEO of The Greenwood Group and Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission’s Center director Victor Bird.

Acorn Growth Companies, a private equity firm focused exclusively on aerospace and defense opportunities, oversees management and control of AGC Aerospace & Defense. The firm has over $100 million under management and companies across the United States, operating worldwide under its primary banner, AGC Aerospace & Defense.
